My name is JoAnn Blackhorse Begay, I am of the Dine' Nation born of the To'dich'iini and Hashlishni clans. My husband and I reside in Newcomb NM, we are proud parents of two and grandparents of four. I have a BA degree in Social Work and a Masters degree in Educational Leadership. I have 23 years of counseling; 8 years of being a certified substance abuse counselor and 17 years as a licensed school social worker/ counselor. In 2020, I obtained my New Mexico State certification as a Developmental Specialist III; working with a multi disciplinary team we assessed, diagnosed and serviced children who have developmental delays. My life's work has been assisting our Dine’ children, to see them have great academic success and become well rounded citizens.
