About the Course

Course Objectives

1. Understand the meaning of advocacy and why your voice matters.

2. Examine and understand the cultural differences between Indigenous Ways of Knowing and Western Approach to Education, policy, and leadership and ways to navigate.

3. Acquire knowledge of and develop skills of a Diné Empowered Leader (Naat’áanii) for advocacy and how to engage others in a cause toward a solution.

4. Build community engagement relationships with an organization, educational program, or school, to promote awareness and empower parents to have a voice that promotes equity and equality for all children.

Establish communication with schools that open doors for changes in policies.
